Federico García Lorca is the original composer of some of the songs of this program. He is mostly known as a Spanish writer and nowadays he is one of the most read poets in the world. Nonetheless, he was close to traditional Spanish music. He was an artist who opposed to the Francoist regimen and defended Second Spanish Republic.

He was one of the most important Spanish composers from the XXth century. He was born in Cadiz in 1876 and died in Argentina in 1946. He died far away from his nation due to republican exile. His works show his folklorist nationalism and his inspiration taken from Golden Spanish Century. His most famous works are Sombrero de tres picos, El amor brujo and El retablo de Maese Pedro.
