Curious fact:

What is a suite?

It is an instrument genre that consists of a sequence of movements, which are relatively short and coherent. During the Baroque period, the movements of the suite were based on different kinds of dances styled by the same tonality and sometimes thematically related.

Movement: In classical music, a movement is defined as a part of a composition or wider musical form which will be executed in sequence with other movements of the same work, even though properly it has a beginning and an end.

“The orchestra, made up of young musicians, composers and arrangers from different states in the country and that have been remarkable in their different scenes, is an ensemble at the level of the best in the world.”

Liliana Rodríguez. ADN CULTURA

“Will the group of musicians of the ONJMX and their network of collaborators be capable of consolidating a civil project of management and creation of new Mexican music and culture? This is all real and possible. We’re witnessing a historical moment that can change the emotional life in the country. We’re also co-protagonists, we all are. Music makes us better people.”

Luis Jesús Galindo. CONTRATIEMPO JAZZ

“For the ONJMX it is important to approach the indigenous roots, from which we find other ways of seeing the world, since they contain complex and deep knowledge that has developed for thousands of years, being nowadays fundamental in the Mexican culture and identity. The suite La mexicana is constituted as a cultural bastion of high impact in the international arena and in the jazz scene.”
