Falling with Victoriano, from Luis Enrique Gutiérrez Ortíz Monasterio (LEGOM)
Dir. Gustavo García Torres
To commemorate the hundred years of "la decena trágica" the Cervantino's audience will take a trip down the history of Mexico, when people were ready to fight but were oppressed by Victoriano Huerta's government, a man who realized there were more problems than he expected when he assumed the presidential charge. This dark humor comedy written by Luis Enrique Gutiérrez Ortíz Monasterio (LEGOM) makes a critic to Huerta's government. Falling with Victoriano uses comedy to make a canvas of power, complicity and economic difficulties of that moment in Mexican history.

Curious fact:
Victoriano Huerta
He was an engineer and military man, and between the years 1913 and 1914 he was the president of Mexico after a coup d´etat to the previous president Francisco I. Madero. This event is known as La Decena Trágica.
Despite his government lasting only 18 months, Huerta's presidency brought a big recoil to the country related to free speech, democracy and legislative terms.
Thanks to the intervention of the government of the United States, Huerta was able to become president, but when he decided to accept help from the British and not from the Americans to make decisions related to the oil, Huerta lost agreements with the United States.
After Zacatecas was taken by Villa's army, Huerta renounced and exiled himself.
