The Fara Fara Boys y Grupo Escrito

Rescuing the northern music - Polkas and corridos de Coahuila

Dir. J. Lucino Delgado Salas

The songs you know, as you have never heard them before. The Fara Fara Boys rescue traditional norteño music by adapting radio hits to this genre.  The "fara fara" style will be heard in this 49th edition of the FIC with their interpretation of Rosita Alvirez, the anthem of the group. The group has been playing the so popular music of northern Mexico for 13 years. To confirm that music sounds loud in the north, Grupo Escrito nurtures the show with its fresh proposal in which young people with a great passion for norteña are the protagonists. This group is led by David Saucedo Ramírez, known as the "king of the children's accordion", who seeks to preserve this genre, as well as other traditional ones such as polkas and redovas.

Curious fact:

The "fara fara" music is a subgenre of the norteña in which the main instruments are the accordion and the bajo sexto. The word "fara fara" is said to come from the 19th century, when Europeans came to Mexico for the construction of railroads. The accordion was brought to Mexico by the Germans, and during their breaks they played songs and shouted something similar to "faren faren" as an applause. The word meant party and got distorted util it became what its currently known as "fara fara", which is related to playing covers in a northern style.

The chotis is a music and dance originated in Bohemia, Czech Republic. It was also a popular dance of Scottish peasants that went to France under the name of Écossaise and from there to Germany under the name of Schottisch, also known as German polka.

The redova is a typical rhythm of northern Mexico, similar to the polka, is a mixture of waltz with mazurka and is executed in a measure of ¾ in moderate and proud tempo. This adaptation of the rejdovak from the Czech Republic is characterized by accentuating the last beat with the bass. It has very precise and harmonious movements.
